Namco Pressuring Katsuhiro Harada for Premium DLC for Tekken Tag Tournament 2

on July 9, 2012 7:00 PM

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has been very vocal about his position on premium character DLC in fighting games. He thinks it’s a bad idea, to put it lightly. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Harada-san and Namco wholly agree on that. Harada-san has disclosed that Namco has been frequently requesting that the development team implement some sort of paid DLC for the upcoming fighter Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

For this reason, he says that it is likely that some sort of paid DLC will appear for the title. Fortunately, we can be sure that this content will NOT be DLC characters. Harada-san previously expressed that if the series did flirt with paid DLC, it wouldn’t be something as integral to the game as full characters but instead something more useless such as items or accessories for customization.  I suppose at this point we can pretty much confirm paid DLC costumes and the like.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available this September.
