Sony Computer Entertainment just announced the upcoming release of The Last of Us Remastered for PS4, and is also working on a new Uncharted game for Sony's new console, and Audio Director Phillip Kovats and Senior Programmer Jonathan Lanier shared a few details on what we can expect from the team on the audio front in an interview on The Frontliner:

Kovats mentioned that new tech is inbound, and it'll allow the team to experiment on new things on the PS4:

I think we’re our own harshest critics, and we try our hardest. We’re getting some new technology for the Playstation 4 which will allows us to do new things.

Lenier also added that they're prepared to provide an audio experience that will surpass what we heard with The Last of Us on PS3

Things will get better though. We’re still in the early phases of exploring what can be done with the PS4. But you can rest assured that the bar has been set with this game, and we’re not shipping anything inferior to that.

Considering that the audio of The Last of Us is absolutely top notch and probably one of the best among old generation games, I can't say I'm not excited to hear what they'll be able to provide with the new technology.
