Almost every year ahead of launch, 2K Games releases a demo prior to the launch of the year's newest NBA 2K title. In 2019, that trend will once again continue.

As announced today, this year's demo for NBA 2K20 is coming next month on August 21. This portion of the game will allow you to gain early access to some parts of NBA 2K20 before release. Specifically, you'll be able to try out MyCareer's early phases while also creating a character in the game's all-new MyPlayer builder. This will allow you to create a character that has the look and playstyle that you want to have. Once NBA 2K20 then formally launches, you'll be able to then carry over this progress to the full title.

The only potential downside to this demo is that it will not be available for users on PC. The NBA 2K20 demo will drop on consoles only, which includes PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. While this might be a bummer for those on PC, the full game won't be out too much later, so hopefully, it won't prove to be too big of a problem.

I'm really hoping that NBA 2K20 will improve on many of the issues that I had with last year's game, but I have a hard time believing that will be the case. MyCareer mode has become a haven of microtransactions to the point that it has become pretty egregious. I'm hoping 2K Games will ease back on that this year, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

NBA 2K20 is set to arrive later this year on September 6 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
