It seems that one of the bigger additions to this year's version of NBA 2K will be the advent of women's basketball finally joining the series.

As announced by 2K Sports recently, the WNBA will be present this year in NBA 2K20. This will be the first time that professional women basketball players have been added in the franchise. NBA 2K20 will include over 140 players from the WNBA and all 12 teams will be present. These WNBA teams will be playable in both Play Now and Season game modes. Additionally, the animations associated with the players in-game have been completely designed from the ground up.

“The 2K team has done an amazing job of making sure to not just put women into the game playing men’s basketball, but I’ve seen first-hand the hard work they’re doing to make this as real and authentic as possible to women’s basketball," said Candace Parker, forward for the Los Angeles Sparks. "I’m proud to be a part of this team paving the way for the future.”

NBA 2K's primary competitor, EA's NBA Live, added WNBA players to its own series a couple of years back. Clearly, the team at Visual Concepts decided it was finally time to follow suit and bring it to NBA 2K20 this year. While it's not really a game-changing addition by any means, it's a cool one for those who might be looking to utilize their favorite stars from the women's pro league.
