Even if EA Sports hasn’t officially confirmed that NBA Jam is getting a relaunch for the Nintendo Wii, it certainly looks like they are well on their way. The game’s creator Mark Turmell now holds the title of senior creative director at EA Tiburon. What does this mean for fans of the longtime popular series?
“I’m a huge sports fan, love making video games, and trust that this senior management team will navigate the very difficult and challenging waters of game development as we move forward in this rapidly changing business,” Turmell said in an interview on EASports.com. “No other publisher has the vision and instincts to capitalize like EA does. And now that I’m here and have been exposed to the awesome development talent, it’s clear that we are going to make hugely successful games as we move forward.”
One question on everyone’s mind however is that EA announced that the home of the franchise would be EA Vancouver and EA Tiburon, where Turmell was assigned, is home to the Madden and NCAA Football franchises. This is one of the reasons why people close to the company feel that NBA Jam may not be coming at all. Either way, the addition of Turmell to EA is a coup for a company that prides itself on giving sports fans the greatest game experience offered.
