Today, developer Saber Interactive announced NBA Playgrounds, a NBA Street and NBA Jam inspired game for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC and Xbox One.

The game is said to be a return to the arcade-style basketball games of yesteryear, such as the great series mentioned above. Further, the game is officially licensed by the NBA, and features both retired and active players. For example, in the debut trailer you can see both Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson.

Every NBA team is featured in the game and players can be leveled-up. Additionally -- and keeping inline with its arcade-style roots -- Playgrounds features hundreds of over-the-top dunks and moves.

Solo play, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer have all been confirmed.

According to Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch the game is accessible enough for anyone to pick up and play, but also contains a large level of depth for those looking to master their craft.

NBA Playgrounds will cost $19.99 USD and is poised to launch sometime in May. Below, you can check out its announcement trailer:
