Necrobarista: Final Pour, a visual novel that has only ever been available via digital download, is set to receive a limited run of physical copies for Nintendo Switch courtesy of Super Rare Games.

Providing the game with a one-time run of just 4,000 copies, the London-based producer/distributor is promoting the game's physical release as a chance for software collectors to add a rare find to their displays beginning later this week, according to a press release issued by Super Rare late last week.

Set in Melbourne, Australia, Necrobarista centers around a coffee shop where the recently dead can make a one-time return to the world of the living, albeit only for 24 hours. The story-driven, supernatural game is a visual novel without much in the way of physical action, but it does include first-person free-roaming segments and some limited forms of animation not usually seen in the visual novel genre. While the art style present in the game draws inspiration from anime and manga, it still manages to stand out from similar titles by not conforming to the two-dimensional style typical to other games of its kind.

Originally slated for release in 2017, lengthy development issues pushed the game's premiere on Steam and GOG back to July 2020. The game, made by Australian developer Route 59, eventually made its way to Switch as a digital download exclusive title in August 2021 in its current Final Pour version.

Super Rare Games specializes in providing physical forms of indie games that have only previously been available in a digital format. According to its website, the company has been publishing such games since February 2018. The London-based publisher also asserts it has released more titles for Switch than any other European publisher, with a second-place ranking worldwide. Necrobarista is the 75th in Super Rare's line of published indie games, and every game produced and distributed by the company enjoys only a single limited run.

The game is scheduled to go on sale on September 8 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. As with all Super Rare Games' releases, it will only be available directly through the publisher's online store. In addition to a game case and cartridge, buyers will receive the game's full-color manual, trading cards, and a sticker.
