From the original game's release in 1994, the Need for Speed series has long been a source of adrenaline-fueled action for fans of street racing games, and now it seems like the curtain has (unofficially) been lifted on the series' next title.

Earlier in the week, EA revealed that it would be kicking off the pre-Gamescom festivities with a look at the next entry in the long-running Need for Speed series, with the official reveal to kick off on Wednesday, August 14 at 10am ET.

However, over on r/NeedforSpeed, a user was able to pull thumbnail images from YouTube for the scheduled video that (presumably) is the reveal trailer for the next Need for Speed title, with the images showing a few glimpses of the game in action and showing some potential new info for the upcoming game.

However, the images also potentially revealed the name and theme of the title, which seems to be called Need for Speed Heat and implying that the game will have a bit of an '80s flair to it and will be set in Miami, at least according to the stylized logo. Likewise, the other images highlight a woman in a modern-looking sports car and one character running away from danger, showing that we assume will be cinematics or in-game footage from the trailer.

While no official confirmation has come yet from either EA or developer Ghost Games, so this is to be taken with a grain of salt. But either way, we won't have too much longer to wait to see the actual trailer for the next Need for Speed title, whether it ends up being called Heat or otherwise.
