Prior to its proper unveiling this morning, information on Need for Speed Heat, this year's entry in the long-running racing franchise, leaked out yesterdayNFS Heat is set in the fictional world of Palm City, which is clearly reminiscent of Miami, and looks to be returning to the series' roots just a bit more this time around.

As was promised earlier in the week, EA ended up releasing the game's reveal trailer this morning and it features a whole lot of fast cars and cops. The trailer also has quite a bit of a narrative focus to it as almost the entirety of the video contains voiceover from what is assumed to be one of the characters in NFS Heat. We do also see some brief gameplay scattered in throughout the trailer, and it sure does look a whole lot like Need for Speed.

EA and Ghost Games said via a press release that Need for Speed Heat puts the focus on "expressive customization, authentic urban car culture, and an immersive narrative that pulls you into the game." That all sounds great on paper, but hopefully, the focus on customization options this time around doesn't coincide heavily with microtransactions.

Along with the initial trailer, the release date of Need for Speed Heat was also announced. The launch is a little less than three months away at this point as the title will be dropping on November 8, 2019. This is the same release date as Death Stranding, so we'll have to see how EA stacks up against Kojima Productions and Sony.
