Sekai Project recently launched a KickStarter campaign to raise money to fund an OVA of Neko Work's Nekopara franchise.

The KickStarter far surpassed it's goal for $100k and has now raised over $500k! For clarification, a franchise featuring cat maids, Chocola and Vanilla, has raised over half a million dollars from fans. The stretch goal for this milestone will make the originally planned 20-minute episode a full hour. Evidentally, this just goes to show you that moe cat girls get all the love.

The publisher has revealed that the OVA will be based on Nekopara Vol 1. However, the anime will cover original events not found in the visual novel, along with memorable ones. At the time of this writing, the Kickstarter has 29 days left.

The publisher details the premise:

What's NEKOPARA? Why, it's a cat paradise! Kashou Minaduki, the son of a long line of Japanese confection makers moved out to open his own shop "La Soleil" as a patisserie. But upon moving out, hidden amongst his things were two of the catgirls, Chocola and Vanilla, that the family had been raising. When he tried to send them back, they begged and pleaded until he gave in and now they've opened La Soleil together. With two catgirls who really, REALLY love their master trying their very best and occasionally failing -- a heartful comedy opens for business!

Furthermore, Sekai Project plans to open pre-orders for Vol 3 of the visual novel series on January 27.
