Publisher Netflix and developer Tender Claws have announced that a brand new Stranger Things VR game will launch for "major VR platforms" in winter 2023. According to Netflix, the game lets you play as one of the antagonists of the TV series, Vecna, to get his revenge on Eleven and Hawkins.

A premiere trailer for Stranger Things VR was released on YouTube, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect from the game. Although no gameplay footage has been made public, the trailer previews what would happen if Vecna ruled the human world. As the fanbase familiar with the Stranger Things universe might expect, the upcoming VR project features alternate dimensions filled with demonic inhabitants. The development team at Tender Claws has not provided a specific release date or platform, so information on the Stranger Things VR game is currently scarce.

"Play as Vecna in this new Stranger Things adventure in virtual reality. Become an explorer of unknown realities as you form the hive mind and tame the void. Invade minds and conjure nightmares in your quest to enact revenge on Eleven and Hawkins." the official description shared by Tender Claw reads." Players will invade the dreams and memories of fan-favorite characters and harness telekinetic powers to battle humans and creatures alike, as Henry Creel’s transformation into Vecna and his influence on the events of prior seasons is revealed.”

The short teaser also showcases demogorgons, a predatory creature originating from an alternate dimension called The Upside Down. Furthermore, as stated in its description, Stranger Things VR will depict Henry Creel's transition into Vecna and his battle against Eleven in both the Upside Down and the real world. The game is being developed by Tender Claws, the award-winning studio that previously worked on Wide Ocean Big Jacket and The Under Present.

Netflix has been steadily growing its presence in the gaming industry with new projects and acquisitions, as the publisher picked up indie developer Spry Fox a couple of days ago. It also seeks to establish a cloud gaming service soon. Stranger Things VR will release for the majority of VR platforms in late 2023.
