New Camelot Unchained Update Ups the Ante, Doubles the Warriors

Camelot Unchained will be an RvR Game, meaning that it will need an engine able to run smoothly even with a large number of character on screen in order to display some really epic battles. Yesterday Tech Director Andrew Meggs shown a tech demo with 500 Tuatha Dé Danann and Viking models weighing 12,000 polygons each without LOD  running around to simulate that kind of load.

Today he decided to up the ante and double the number of models, releasing a new update with twice as many models, reaching a whopping 1000 while still holding a definitely acceptable framerate. He also promised that we’ll see something similar, but with effects, next week.

You can see the impressive video below, and no, this isn’t the surprise I promised last night. That’s going to come in about half a hour.
