It’s a good day for fans of Relic and their RTS games, specifically Company of Heroes. The sequel to the smash hit is gearing up, and this time focusing on the Eastern front of World War II between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. In addition to the recent Developer Diary video, there’s also new information out on when we can expect to start playing the beta, as well as information on what DLC and future content will look like, and more importantly how much it will cost.
A post on the official forums also outlines the start of beta, which will begin shortly after the new year. Keys will be given out events, and pre-orders will of course get access as well. There is also some information on a “season pass” of sorts. Rather than the day one DLC packages we’ve seen with other titles, this will be a free inclusion for pre-orders to get new content earlier. Relic seems to be keeping out of the usual paid DLC rat race that has overtaken so many games recently. Oh and in keeping with their usual tradition, the game will be PC-only, if you haven’t already guessed.
