No, I have no idea what is going on in the screenshot above, and I’m not sure I really want to. You know you’re looking forward to the sequel to the first game. Yes, I’m looking forward to it, as well. I’m still making my way through the first game (it is pretty long, you know), but it really is underrated, in my opinion.

Well, the sequel has some similar mechanics as the first, only they’ve been enhanced. Let’s take a look at some of the new changes and additions in Record of Agarest War 2.

  1. The “Soul Breed” system is back! It is also similar to the system in the first game – your character’s “soul”, in the form of a mixture of “stats” between your character and the girl you hook up with, is transfered to your heir you have with said girl. To make the best rug-rat with the coolest stats, you need to have the girl’s affinity toward you be at or near maximum, and this is part of the fun of the “dating sim” aspects of the games.
  2. The sequel also retains the Extended Turn Battle System from the first, but with some improvements, most notably what are called “Ultimate Strike” attacks, which damage all your enemies simultaneously. There are also a few other new tweaks to the battle system which should lower the tedious nature the strategy mechanics had in the first title.

Take a look below for some of the new screenshots and…um…artwork that has been released for the title by Idea Factory.

Once you’re done with those, pick your jaw up off the floor and change your pants, because I have the game’s first trailer for you to check out below, as well.
