Square Enix surprised fans at the very, very end of 2015 with news that Final Fantasy IX will be arriving with a new port on PC and mobile, and much like the recently-released PS4 port of Final Fantasy VII the new release of FFIX will also include some added features, according to Steam.

The official Steam page for the upcoming re-release of Final Fantasy IX was updated and shared some new information on the port, which provided several added features coming to the game including Achievements, an autosave feature, game boosters that provide additional features such as No Encounter modes, and updated, high-definition character models and cinematics.

The Steam page for the upcoming Final Fantasy IX PC version also revealed the minimum and recommended system requirements for the port, which is currently targeting an early 2016 release, though no specific release date has been announced yet:
