New Devil May Cry Animated Series Will Crossover with Netflix's Castlevania
The executive producer of Netflix's Castlevania will be developing a new animated series based on Capcom's Devil May Cry.
As reported by IGN, the executive producer behind Netflix’s Castlevania series, Adi Shankar, confirmed that a series based on Capcom’s Devil May Cry is in the works.
That’s not all though, Shankar revealed that the Devil May Cry series “will join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.”
As for what this means for Netflix’s Castlevania as a whole is still unknown. That series just released its second season in late October to high praise amongst fans and critics across the world. Just a few days after the second season launched, Netflix greenlit a third season of the animated show.
I think it’s safe to say that the Devil May Cry series has high potential considering just how good Shankar’s Castlevania series is. Shankar told IGN he, “acquired these (Devil May Cry) rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too.”
After Paul W.S. Anderson revealed the cringe-inducing first images on the set of his live-action Monster Hunter, it’s really a breath of fresh air knowing someone who has respect for the source material has creative control over another iconic Capcom IP. That’s not to say Anderson’s Monster Hunter will be bad, it’s not even out yet, but after the Resident Evil films, I’m not super optimistic.
We’ll be sure to update you as we learn more about Shankar’s Devil May Cry series.
