One of the things I didn't much like about the first incarnation of Final Fantasy XIV was that the NPC population of the cities looked pretty lethargic, always standing there and looking pretty in the same position while doing absolutely nothing, like they were frozen in time.

Looks like things won't be the same in A Realm Reborn, at least according to a new developer's blog post by Localization Team Lead and Loremaster Michael-Christopher Koji Fox just released on the official site: NPCs won't be just motionless statues anymore, but will actually walk around, patrol the streets, do push ups, perform their jobs and generally look more lively.

While this may seem like a small element in the grand scheme of things, I actually feel it's a relevant step in the right direction. As much as many like to deny it, immersion in MMORPGs tends to be rather important
