New Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Screenshots Show a Warm Gridania by Night

All the screenshots we saw so far of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn were taken in full sunlight, as the day/night cycle still wasn’t implemented in the alpha. Today a new developer’s blog post shared three (small) screenshots of the current internal build, showing how Gridania by night, and it’s a quite warmer environment compared to what we had in the original Final Fantasy XIV, demonstrating once more than the new lighting engine (that was one of the first game’s main weak points) marks a very clear improvement.

Two of the screenshots also show the moon in different phases. Of course there’s now only one moon, since the second was actually a giant technomagical cage built by the Allagan empire to imprison Bahamut, and exploded in hundreds of fragments.

The night sky will now surely look less exotic, with only one moon, but the flavor is all in the details.
