Today Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new trailer for its upcoming action-adventure God of War.

The video, narrated by Gameplay Engineering Lead Jeet Shroff, gives us a look into some great game footage, and into the way Kratos’ son Atreus was developed and implemented into the game.

Since Kratos definitely doesn’t need “help” in combat, it appears to have been quite the challenge to make Atreus feel useful and not like he’s just getting in the way. This was ultimately achieved by giving him his own button, which allows to activate special abilities like stunning enemies, and allowing the player to build him up into his personal playstyle.

You can check out the video below. If you want to see more, you can enjoy more videos about the game’s lore, another video about the relationship between Kratos and his son Atreus, one about the lack of any cuts interrupting the cinematic experience, and some really spectacular gameplay.

God of War went gold about a week ago, and it will release exclusively for PS4 on April 20th.
