New HEX: Shards of Fate Video Explores Dungeons, Teases Arena

May 11, 2013

In my previous coverage of the TCG/MMO HEX: Shards of Fate I wondered on how dungeons will work in a MMORPG that involved trading card game mechanics. Obviously the folks at Cryptozoic Entertainment heard my plea and came up with a nice video explaining just that for my sake (Obviously, right?).

In the video we meet Lead PVE designer Chris Woods, that not only created the game’s dungeon gameplay, but also came up with the AI that will play the cards on behalf of the computer. Not only he talks with a reasonable degree of depth on how the dungeon experience will work, but he also teases a “Blood Bowl“-ish (careful Chris, we all know how lawsuit-happy Games Worksop can be…) arena feature with its own deck and recruitable “star players”.

As an old Blood Bowl player, that definitely piqued my attention. If it got yours as well, you can check out the official Kickstarter page and pledge your own support. In the meanwhile you can check the video out below.

Giuseppe Nelva

Hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
