With the holidays rapidly approaching and the shopping season in full swing, now is as good a time as any to invest in a Wii U with its stellar selection of titles and content - although, a new TV ad for the console airing overseas maybe points a sign toward a new hardware design incoming.

In a new ad airing both in Japan and the UK highlighting the amiibo figurines and Mario Kart 8 for this holiday season, one piece of information has stuck out in the ad in particular, with the commercial what could be a new Wii U GamePad design.

At around the :05 second mark in the commercial, the father of the family can be seen briefly holding onto a Wii U GamePad during a heated (and comical) match of Mario Kart 8, though the GamePad in question seems slightly different compared to the original model with the Wii U launch.

Though the image is slightly out-of-focus, it can be seen that the GamePad has a slightly slimmer bezel and larger display area, along with the GamePad's front camera seeming to be missing. Though it is purely speculation at this point, and its possible that the angle/focus could be throwing things off, or the GamePad used may just be a prop, stay tuned on if a new GamePad design may be in the works or not.
