New Monster Tale Trailer, Where the Hell Did This Gem Come From?

Top-quality DS games seem to be almost criminally consistent in slipping under peoples’ radars, and Majesco’s Monster Tale is no exception, as this new trailer from GameTrailers shows.  Developed by DreamRift, which was founded by guys who had a major part in creating one of the best games of 2009 in Henry Hatsworth, this looks to follow a similar “two games happening at once” philosophy.

This time it’s action-platforming combined with a virtual pet type deal.  You’re apparently this kid, reminiscent of Astro Boy, with melee and projectile attacks, and when you down monsters, the spoils go to your Pokemon companion Chomp, who feeds on these treasures and gains stat increases and corresponding transformations. If you’re in trouble you can summon Chomp to help take down the enemy. Hit the trailer for the details.

Considering Henry Hatsworth is one of my favorite, absolutely punishing games on the DS, I’ll be sure to keep an eye for this one when it hits in March.

Allen is an utter whore of a gamer; he's completely open-minded to all games, be they AAA blockbusters or $5 casual children's games. His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks. When he's not geeking out over the newest art game, he's out toning his sexy, sculpted shoulders while surfing epic 1.5ft waves, or having a good time with local, high-gravity microbrews.
