Nintendo fans' favorite green dinosaur is back in a new game simply code named "Yoshi" for now, and the house of Mario and Zelda just showcased a large batch of gameplay during its Treehouse live coverage.

Of course the game is still a platformer, but this time it's set into a large 3D world decorate like a miniature diorama, and if you like this kind of cartoony style, you're probably going to love this. The clever use of blur with a technique akin to tilt-shift photography really conveys the effect of a diorama.

The gameplay showcases both single player and local multiplayer with two players, using the features of the Joy-Con controllers, and it's as cutesy and adorable as you would expect from Yoshi.

At the moment this Yoshi game doesn't have a release date just yet, but we know that it'll come in 2018 exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Of course, We'll let you know if we learn anything else.

For now, you can check out the gameplay below, and give a glimpse on the original announcement trailer in case you missed it.
