The new model of the PS Vita is being exposed to public scrutiny for the first time at a few stores in Japan, and since a lot of Japanese gamers don't go anywhere without a camera, pictures are starting to surface on the internet.

Below you can see a nice selection. The first shows the whole stand at Sofmap in Akihabara, courtesy of Akiba PC Hotline. The second is even more interesting, posted by Twitter user Yottra, as it shows the console in his hand, giving us a very nice glimpse on just how thin it is.

The third comes from Twitter User HIKALUKE, and shows the front of the unit. He also mentions that the grip feels good. Two more pics have been published by the Japanese blog Hachima Kikou, showing the front as well.

It's worth mentioning that the unit on display is a mock-up, but measurements and form factor are the same as the final product.

Update: quite a few more pictures surfaced, putting in direct comparison the new LCD screen with the old OLED, the form factor of the two models, and even sowing a comparison with the screens of a 3DS XL. You can find them here.
