New PlayStation 4 Slim SKU With 1TB Harddrive Coming to Stores
Sony has announced that a standalone version of their 1TB harddrive PS4 Slim is coming to stores.
This morning Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that they will be selling a PlayStation 4 Slim with a 1TB harddrive as a standalone unit for the first time in North America.
The unit will cost $299, and will be available later this month. The model includes a DualShock 4 controller, an HDMI cable, a power cable, a wired mono headset, and a USB charging cable.
Previously, the only way to get a 1TB harddrive in your PS4 in North America, without buying one yourself, was to either buy a PS4 Pro, Sony’s high end version of the PS4, or to buy a bundle that included Call of Duty: Black Ops III. A standalone, 1TB unit has been available in the European and Japanese markets for some time now.
The current PlayStation 4 Slim includes a 500GB harddrive, and currently retails for $250, so essentially you will be paying $50 more for 500 more GB’s of space.
Earlier this morning, before the announcement, NeoGAF user Cornbread78 discovered the new model and posted a picture of it.
The exact release date of this product is unknown, and as of this writing it is currently not available to preorder, however a link to preorder is up on PlayStation’s website, so we expect the link to go up shortly.
In other Sony related news, yesterday the company announced that they will be shutting down the servers of four PS3 games, one PSVita game, and one PS4 game.
