Ever since Red & Blue first released, the Pokemon series has been home to numerous different spin-offs and games that diverge from the mainline experience of trying to catch 'em all. Pokemon Snap especially was a title that took a very different spin on the Pokemon universe, and now over 20 years later, it seems like we'll finally get the Snap follow-up that we've been waiting for.During the latest Pokemon Presents presentation, The Pokemon Company announced New Pokemon Snap, a photo-snapping game in the Pokemon universe that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game of course is a follow-up to the original Pokemon Snap, which first released on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, and gave players a photo safari-like experience of trying to snap the best pictures of Pokemon they could find out in the wild.

While the trailer shown was brief, the footage from New Pokemon Snap highlighted some of the environments and Pokemon that you'll be able to capture photos of in-game. So far, the game seems to include tons of Pokemon from across several generations, so it seems like the game will be a pretty expansive experience for fans of the series.

No other details on the game were confirmed just yet for the upcoming Switch title, but The Pokemon Company confirmed that the game is "coming soon," so hopefully we can expect it to arrive sometime later this year. Either way, as a huge fan of the original game, I can't wait to perfect my photos of Pokemon out in the wild, and the footage shows that the game seems like a huge upgrade from the N64 original.

New Pokemon Snap is currently in development for Nintendo Switch.
