New Portal 2 Release Date is the Real Deal

December 22, 2010

We can finally confirm the release date for what may be the sleeper hit of 2011. Portal 2, sequel to the cult loved instant classic Portal (of the Orange Box and downloadable fame), is highly anticipated because of the innovative and groundbreaking game play of the first game.

Suffice it to say, most of the jokes and references you’ve heard about cake over the past three years have been homage to the game. Portal 2 will hit HD consoles, the PC and the Mac on April 21st, 2011. Valve’s VP of marketing Doug Lombardi had this to say about the exciting launch:

“Portal 2 is Valve’s most innovative title in the company’s history and will be launched with a first-class launch campaign this April. We’re excited to be working with Electronic Arts to deliver this title as we expand our platform strategy to include the Mac and PlayStation 3 platforms.”

This solid release date is awesome news, especially after having the game delayed from its original February release date. I wholeheartedly expect this one to be worth the wait. I’m going to celebrate by baking a cake…and it’ll probably be a lie.
