New PS4 Dynamic Theme by Truant Pixel Is their Weirdest (But it’s Actually Quite Cool)

The prolific indie team at Truant Pixel is known for atmospheric and spectacular PS4 dynamic themes that make full use of the tools provided by Sony, but this time around they went down the weird path.

Their new theme “Tamago Panic (Make Me Eggs!)” is made with a very simple art style, showing a stylized lady making eggs and bacon. At first sight it might almost seem one of those super-simple and overpriced themes you find all over the PlayStation Network.

But there’s more to it. Besides the fact that the eggs on the frying pan actually cook over time, the combination of the catchy music, the lady herself appearing with random expressions and dancing with the rhythm on the upper screen, and the chibi version periodically rolling over the screen make the whole theme quite charming in a strange way.

It reminds me a lot of those super-catchy animated music videos on Youtube, or that awesome little gem that is Rhythm Heaven Fever for Wii.

You can find it on the PlayStation Store for $1.99.

In any case, you can see it below and judge for yourself thanks to a few screenshots, a video directly from Truant Pixel and one from my PS4 to show you how it looks with actual game tiles. And yes, if you’re wondering, my first tile is exactly what you think it is. Feel free to envy me.
