Today the creative team at Truant Pixel released a new dynamic theme for the PS4, and it's a rather special one, as it pays homage to the old and glorious dashboard of the PS2.

It's called Blue Nebula, and you can find it on the North American PlayStation Store for $2,49.

The theme isn't a full fledged imitation of the PS2 dashboard (which would probably infringe on a few copyrights), but it definitely tries to capture its spirit and imagery.

We are proud to present this dynamic theme, created per special user request. This abstract theme features a volumetric blue nebula populated by transparent cubes. Errant pinpoints of of red, blue, green and purple light drift throughout the cloud, coalescing into a brilliant star with user input. Shifting lighting and flare effects are included, with fully interactive transitions. Per user request, this theme features stock icons and sound effects, however a custom background audio mix of serene, crashing waves has been included.

It's quite interesting that the theme was created due to the request of an user. If you want one made, maybe you can try and contact Truant Pixel on Twitter. Maybe you'll inspire their next one.

Below you can see a gallery of screenshots, a video on my own PS4 to show you how it looks with game tiles on it, and a trailer provided by Truant Pixel.
