Crystal Dynamics has been hard at work for publisher Square Enix in the process of bringing a new entry to the beloved Tomb Raider franchise to light.  That game was announced today and should be something refreshing that provides the cautious optimism that maybe Tomb Raider didn’t die a horrible death on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.  Read more for all the info on this story.

The game, to be released this year, is called Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Although this is the first Tomb Raider title we have seen in a while, dwindling popularity in the franchise means that its return will be a cautious one.  Releasing for most likely the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, this title will be an affordable downloadable game with a new spin on what we know as Tomb Raider.  Hopefully this game will ignite a revamp in the series and bring Lara Croft back to life.
