Volition has released a brand new story trailer today for the upcoming open-world crime-fest reboot, Saints Row.

The reboot of Volition's most popular product is just a week away so it's about time the marketing department kicked things up a gear. They have, too, with a new story trailer showcasing the bonkers humor the series is known for, as well as some actual gameplay from its massive open world.

The trailer opens with a few fleeting aerial shots of the brand new play space that fans will be calling home very soon, Santo Ileso, before dialing the action up to 11 with the Saints robbing a store, attacking a convoy of trucks, and starting a bar fight with one of the game's contending gangs, among other death-defying-yet-awesome-looking activities while setting up the basic premise for the game.

Oh, there's also a porta-potty that gets dragged through a hippy festival, destroying tents as it takes its poop on the road. It's fair to say, then, that the series' humor seems to be intact, though we'll know for sure once the full release rolls around on August 23rd.

Saints Row is a reboot of the original series with no connection to the previous stories told throughout the previous four games. There will still be a few nods to its lineage as Volition isn't completely scrubbing its history away, but it will act as a standalone release that serves as a new starting point for the franchise going forward.

Saints Row releases on August 23rd for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Google's Stadia. If you're wondering how much space the game will take up on your hard drive, the PS5 and PS4 store listings have revealed the installation sizes for each version of the game.
