Today's "Sega Nama" stream featured Sega's Chief Creative Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi along with Masaki Shirai and Satoyasu Shoumura, band members from Alexandros, the band that handles the opening song of Project Judge, Yakuza Studio's latest game.
During the Project Judge segment, where it was announced the game will receive a new demo, Shirai-san and Shoumura-san took the occasion to tell Nagoshi-san how they always respected him and loved his games, like Daytona USA.
As they kept chatting about their gamer history, the discussion drifted towards Sakura Taisen, and how Shirai-san especially is a huge fan of the series. Hearing this, Nagoshi-san shared that the development on the new Sakura Taisen game is going very smoothly and that Sega will be able to show it to us very soon. Moreover, he added that the game looks so good, we will all be surprised when seeing it.
The "New Sakura Taisen" game was announced back at SegaFes in April 2018. It was supposed to release before March 2019, but the game has been delayed. You can read comments on the game from Sega's CEO here.
As a side note, it would be great if the Sakura Taisen Musicals made a comeback along with the new game. I'm not sure how it could happen though. All the voice actresses from the previous games have retired from doing musical shows. But if the new game has new characters voiced by other popular actresses, they won't have the time to do the shows, seeing how busy they are. The only option would be to use new characters voiced by relatively new actresses, with less booked schedules, but that wouldn't please older fans much.
