New SquareEnix Trademark Alludes to More Re-releases

It’s going around the Interwebs this weekend that SquareEnix has trademarked the name “SE Masterpieces” in Europe earlier last week. With all the remastered PS2 games going around and masquerading as a PS3 all-in-one title, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that SquareEnix is busy working on HD reworks of some of their best titles from the PS2 era, which could include the likes of the two main Kingdom Hearts titles, or Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy XII, all of which I would consider “masterpieces”.

This seems to me to be more like a series of titles instead of just a single release, so we could see compilations of great titles coming to our HD consoles (probably just the PS3, considering they can stuff several games on one disc). Perhaps they’ll announce something at E3 in a few weeks.
