Earlier this year Playful Corp. announced that New Super Lucky's Tale would be getting ported to the Switch. Today, we receive a second trailer for the game, and this one includes a release date: November 8.

When it comes to 3D platformers, everyone knows that the protagonist has got to have charisma. Whether it's Mario, Banjo-Kazooie, Hat Kid, or Ty, all games in the genre must star a cute and colorful character. The titular hero of New Super Lucky's Tale is a fox named Lucky. In addition to being cute and colorful, he's a "hero at heart" and has a number of movement options at his disposal: double-jumps, dives, spins, and a neat burrow technique. The game's simple-but-vibrant graphical style befits the genre as well--emotive and easily recognizable visual cues let you know just what you're aiming at when you jump.

Another calling card of 3D platformers is the "collectathon." No worries there. In New Super Lucky's Tale, you explore zones and collect coins and "clovers." The content of the original release is a bit simplistic, so here's to hoping Playful Corp. adds more challenges to jump through this time around.

Super Lucky's Tale originally released in 2017 for Xbox One and Windows. It was intended as a VR release but later turned into a more traditional 3D platformer midway through development. The game suffered from issues that seemed caused by its VR roots--most notably with regard to its camera controls. The Switch port seems to have perfected the game's design, however, and promises to be the definitive release of Super Lucky's Tale.
