As many expected to eventually happen, Nintendo confirmed during today's Direct that New Super Mario Bros. Wii U will now be making its way to the Switch and will be renamed New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.

Along with Mario, Luigi, and Toad returning as playable characters, Nabbit and Toadette will also be available for use this time around. Nabbit has the ability to not take damage from enemies which makes him the perfect character for newcomers or children. Toadette, on the other hand, can transform into Peach with the help or a certain item. Yeah, it's weird.

In addition, New Super Luigi U, the expansion for the original game, will also be arriving with this Deluxe bundle. In total, there are 164 different courses for you to play through by yourself or with friends.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is scheduled to release next year on January 11, 2019, exclusively for the Switch.
