Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and 3DS was patched earlier this week in time with a release of new DLC content, including maps and Mii Fighter outfits. However, a data mine of the patch may have revealed that more characters and stages are due for release in the near future.

Twitter user 'ShinyQuagsire' performed a data mine of the game after the most recent patch and discovered three unused character slots after the other downloadable characters, Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy and Ryu. The placeholders are marked 'Mario' and remain empty for now.

In addition there are four unmarked stage placeholders, with two designated as Omega Forms. This would mean that two more stages are scheduled for release.

The Fighter Ballot that allows fans to vote for a character they would like to see in Super Smash Bros. closes tomorrow, so perhaps this is all preperation for a upcoming DLC announcement?
