One of the most popular horror franchises back in the day, Fear Effect could be making a return very soon as per a new trademark filed recently.

The first Fear Effect game was released in the 2000s and back in the day, it was critically acclaimed not only for its gameplay elements but also for its gripping storyline. Developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment and published by Eidos Interactive, we witnessed a prequel arriving one year later, and that did exceedingly well at that time as well. In fact, the game was one runner-up for GameSpot's annual "Best PlayStation Game" award, which speaks volumes about the game's success.

New Trademark Suggests Return Of Fear Effect Franchise

As reported by Gematsu, Square Enix has filed a new trademark for the Fear Effect franchise. It should be noted that we have not had an update on the Fear Effect remake for quite while a now, and this trademark could hint that we should be getting the game pretty soon. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the game's arrival ever since its announcements, but the developers have been quite silent about it.

Moreover, it could be very much possible that Square Enis is looking to revive the Fear Effect franchise and is probably working on a new title altogether. It cannot be said for sure which of the two is actually the case, but something is definitely brewing up when it comes to the franchise. With a sheer lack of good horror games these days, the revival of Fear Effect could be exactly what Square Enix needs to turn things around.
