What Is New World's Public Test Realm?

New World's Public Test Realm is a limited availability server that will allow players to jump in and try out some new features that aren't quite ready for a full release.

As noted by Amazon Games, these features are not the final versions, so players that join a PTR server may encounter bugs, glitches, crashes, or various other issues.

The aim of the PTR is to allow players to get their hands on new features early and provide the developers with feedback for when they are included in the full release.

It's also important to note that once features are released in the main version of New World, the PTR servers will be closed until a future test is announced by the developers.

New World PTR Release Time

The New World Public Test Realm (PTR) will go live on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 at 12PM PT / 3PM ET / 8PM GMT.

Players should now find that they are able to download the Public Test Realm on Steam, but will not be able to access the servers until they go live at the time mentioned above.

How To Download and Play

As mentioned previously, a special Public Test Realm version of New World should now be available within your Steam library if you already own a copy of New World.

All players need to do is download the new PTR from their Steam library and hit play once the servers go live, this will then boot up New World as normal but with limited servers. On these select servers, users will be able to play with new features that are still in the testing phase.

If you decide the PTR isn't for you, just close the application and launch your original copy of the game to go back to normal. For more details or to report a bug, head to the PTR sub-forum.
