New World PvP Scaling Explained - Why Players Are Unhappy About It

What Is PvP Scaling?
PvP scaling is a game mechanics, that adjusts the damage dealt to enemy players as well as healing to friendly players while engaged in PvP combat, to partially compensate for gear item level differences between players.
Previously, New World had an open world PvP system which received both support and criticism from players. This system made the game skill-based, so weapon skills, gear score, and attributes provided only minor advantages in combat.
But in the latest patch notes for New World Open Beta, the developers made changes to the PvP scaling system. According to the changes, players on a higher-level will need fewer hits on a lower level player to kill them. On the other hand, lower level players will have to inflict more damage to kill higher level players.
Many Players Are Unhappy With PvP Scaling changes in New World
So the new rule is going to value better geared and higher level players, and also pose a challenge for new players to outdo higher level players.
However, the new changes have been met with negative feedback amongst several players because they support a skill-based gameplay instead of a stats based one. And it makes sense too but it seems that Amazon is trying to favor or lure in players who are willing to put in more number of hours by giving them a distinct advantage over those who don’t.
On the flip side, a new player (despite having good skills) could end up feeling overwhelmed in the game by those who have better stats. One can argue that this can discourage new players from continuing with the game.
Amazon has incorporated PvP Scaling as a core feature of New World, so it’s probably not going away anytime soon. But it has its own pros and cons. Besides, the game is still in beta and the developers are actively try to balance the New World PvP scaling system.
