New World players have a new update to download today, and as the 1.5.3 patch notes reveal, the update reduces the amount of reward earned by completing PvP faction missions to align it with other PvP activities.

From now on, you will receive 200 Salt and 350 PvP XP for completing each PvP faction mission. This is 100 Salt less than before. Also, the mission used to grant players 500 PvP XP prior to this update.

So, you might ask yourself why the developers have not increased the value of rewards for other PvP activities rather than nerfing PvP Faction Missions, but your guess is as good as mine.

Just before you can start playing the game with the new changes, Amazon Game Studios will run server maintenance starting at 11 pm PT on June 14 or 2 am ET/6 am UTC/8 am CEST on June 15. The developer didn't share the expected duration of downtime, but you can expect at least 2 hours of maintenance based on previous experiences.

Now, let's have a look at the New World update 1.5.3 full patch notes:

PVP FACTION MISSIONS

  • Adjusted PvP faction mission rewards to better align with other activities like Arenas and Outpost Rush. Players can now focus on their favorite PvP activities with less concern over whether their time would be better spent doing one specific activity to optimize rewards.
    • Players will now earn 200 Salt and 350 PvP XP from each PvP faction mission. These missions previously rewarded 300 Salt and 500 PvP XP.
    • Great Cleave 'Retrieve' & 'Control Point' missions now offer less Salt (100) and PvP XP (200) because they take less time to complete than other missions. Players can now accept a wider variety of quests to reap the same rewards within a similar time commitment.

GENERAL FIXES

  • Fixed the emissive texture on the Brimstone Fire Staff’s molten orb.

New World is now available on PC via Steam.
