Newest Twisted Metal Trailer Gives Us a Glimpse of Grimm

I’ve missed Twisted Metal terribly. The PlayStation 2’s Twisted Metal: Black is probably one of my all-time favorite games for that system. Mix that longing with a new trailer for the series’ 2012 title and you’ve got yourself one riled-up reporter. Feast your eyes on the semi-origins of Mr. Grimm, one of four playable characters in February’s Twisted Metal. The character may not be the Grimm you’ve known and loved, but it’s an interesting take on him nonetheless. Check out the video past the jump.

As I said, it’s a bit of a departure from the face of death we’re used to or, my personal favorite, the anguished Vietnam vet from Black, but flaming chainsaws are the best counter-argument for any qualms you’ll have against the guy. The game looks absolutely gorgeous, doesn’t it? Well, if you’re wondering how it plays, Emily had the opportunity to go hands-on with the title a while back, so check that out if you’re curious.

Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a nasty surprise at the end of the trailer in the form of — you guessed it — pre-release DLC. I’ve got quite the conundrum on my hands here: I hate Axel, so I’d feel pretty good about not springing for the DLC when it’s available later for a price; then again, how can I deny myself the pleasure of destroying Axel in a Twisted Metal game?
