Next-Gen Nintendo Console Set to 'Surprise Users'

By François Chang

September 27, 2010

Almost 4 years ago, Nintendo Wii took our households by storm with its innovative motion controls. It certainly surprised us then, and it seems as though Nintendo wants to surprise us all once again. According to Zelda Universe, Yoshio Sakamoto, co-creator of the Metroid franchise, recently made the following statement:

“At Nintendo, we always have the obligation to surprise users with each new console. We have never simply followed our competition. We prefer to create something new that catches your attention, and I think this will continue at this time. The new Nintendo console will leave you all with your mouth open.”

Motion controls are definitely the thing of the past now. In fact, it’s about to become a staple with the recently released PlayStation Move and soon to be released Kinect. So what can Nintendo do this time? Only Nintendo and those close to the videogaming juggernaut know.
