Next Mass Effect Will Utilize Frostbite Engine
Yannick, the Studio Director at BioWare Montreal, has shared an update via the BioWare blog regarding the development of the next Mass Effect game.
The post contained limited information about the next game in BioWare’s acclaimed franchise but did include a few interesting tidbits. Firstly, Yannick confirmed that the game’s development will be predominately driven by BioWare Montreal, with support from its Edmonton studio.
Casey Hudson will continue to serve as Executive Producer, but for this game he will have a Project Director working under him, who will lead the Montreal development team.
Yannick went on to mention that the game ‘will be built with the amazing technology of Frostbite as its foundation, enhanced by many of the systems that the Dragon Age III team has already spent a lot of time building.’
Finally, Yannick stated that with the original Mass Effect trilogy finished, BioWare is now exploring ‘new directions’; players can ‘still expect the pillars the franchise is known for to be fully intact though, including diverse alien races, a huge galaxy to explore, and of course rich, cinematic storytelling.’
