Today, developer Messhof announced that its sword fighting game, Nidhogg 2, is coming to PS4 in 2017.

As you may remember, Nidhogg 2 -- the sequel to the 2014 side scroller fencing game, Nidhogg -- was previously only announced for PC. However, at the time the developer said the game could come to other platforms, and well here we are.

For those of you who don’t know about Nidhogg, here’s the basic idea, courtesy of the PlayStation Blog:

Two players face off with swords. Win the duel and you can run ahead toward your side of the screen. Watch out, because your opponent will respawn in front of you and try to take back control of the camera. Make it all the way to the end to sacrifice yourself to the flying worm called Nidhogg!

The blogpost also revealed that Nidhogg 2 will be playable this weekend at Day Of The Devs in San Francisco.

Nidhogg 2 is set to release sometime in 2017 for PS4 and PC. Check out the new trailer below:
