A peculiar tweet got shared this week and caught the attention of NieR Automata creator Yoko Taro, here's what happened.

The Spanish CM for KFC shared on Twitter a peculiar picture of a 2B cosplayer sitting at a KFC restaurant, probably in Russia. If you reverse image search the photo, it looks like it's been around for quite a while and used for memes. However, it's buzzing again now.

Yoko Taro is known for trolling on Twitter, like how he mentioned that the NieR series ended last December. He also regularly tweets about what he had for dinner, or his impressions on what he recently watched, and interacts with fans. So naturally, Yoko Taro ended up seeing that KFC tweet.

Yoko Taro confirms 2B likes KFC

Funnily, Yoko Taro ended up quote retweeting KFC, confirming that the photo is "real". You can now consider it canon that Yorha No. 2 Type B alias 2B likes eating some KFC.

Since as far as 2020, Yoko Taro has been working on several games. One of these games was Voice of Cards, which was recently launched. Yoko Taro is also interested in writing for Final Fantasy XVI, but already got shot down by YoshiP.

In similar news, Yoko Taro also praised Project Eve, an upcoming action RPG developed by Korean studio Shift Up.

Right now, the NieR series is continuing most notably with NieR Reincarnation on mobile. The game has a whole team of scenarists on it. The series has Japan-exclusive content too such as the YorHa Girls stage plays. Yoko Taro also never said if one of the games he's working on is NieR related or not, so it might be possible that another NieR is coming soon. And Yoko Taro's producer Yosuke Saito also again confirmed to be working on several projects in his 2022 New Years' message.

An autobiographical manga on the life of Yoko Taro was also published by Cygames in 2021. The manga focuses on his beginnings in the game industry.

Last but not least, January 7 was also 2B's birthday, and probably why this meme resurfaced. Several artists shared some artwork for the occasion, most notably Kazama Raita, one of my favorite artists and the character designer of the strategy simulation game Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia on Switch and PS4.
