Sony Interactive Entertainment released its weekly PS4 digital sales chart for the Japanese PlayStation Store, related to the period between March 5th and March 11th.

NieR: Automata caught the tail of its 50% anniversary discount, resulting in a second week at the top. Yoko Taro's game sold well enough to hold back the brand new Hokuto Ga Gotoku, which was the first title to dethrone Monster Hunter World in retail stores this week.
Capcom's juggernaut actually slid into fourth place, also overtaken by the PS4 port of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel.
NieR: Automata wasn't the only game benefitting from a substantial discount this week, as Tales of Berseria and Gundam Breaker 3 were also sold for less than half price.
If you're wondering what possessed Japanese gamers to purchase Battleborn en masse pushing it to fifth place, it was and still is discounted by 90% for PlayStation Plus users.
This chart also gives the coup de grâce to Nippon Ichi Software's Your Four Knight Princesses Training Story, which is probably the biggest launch flop in the recent history of the niche developer. It ranked 20th digitally on PS4, and failed to make the top-twenty at all at retail. Yesterday, we learned thanks to the top-sixty by Media Create that it was ranked 22nd on PS4, 26th on Switch, and 28th on PS Vita. It actually ranked fourth on PS Vita digitally but considering the waning popularity of Sony's handheld that's not exactly an achievement.
Just a few days ago, we learned that NieR: Automata passed 2.5 million units shipped at retail and sold via digital download.
