NieR: Automata is one of the upcoming games with the best visual style, and at least part of the praise for that has to go to Character Designer Yuya Nagai, working alongside Akihiko Yoshida at studio CyDesignation to give the game's characters their distinctive looks.

Recently, he shared on Twitter two more pieces of artwork of the characters he designed, the pacifist machine life form Pascal, and the Yorha corps operator.

Interestingly, he mentioned that he initially struggled with designing Pascal, because it was the first time for him to work on a retro-looking robot.

Incidentally, these beautiful pieces of art, which you can see below, aren't something Nagai-san created for work. He actually made them in his own free time.

This isn't the first time Nagai-san shares this kind of art, as last month he showcased three more characters he designed, the Yorha commander, Adam and Eve.

On the other hand, if you want to see how his characters will appear in game, you can see them in a few screenshots here.

Keep in mind that we'll soon be able to get a taste of the game before its release scheduled for March 7th: Square Enix will soon (on December 22nd) release a demo playable on PS4, letting us finally take the controls of the beautiful and lethal android 2B across an action-packed level.

The game will eventually be released for PC as well, but a launch date on Steam is still unknown.
