NieR: Automata Producer Teases DLC Related to Mysterious Apologetic Machines

The mysterious Apologetic Machines in NieR: Automata might be the key behind an upcoming DLC.

One of the unsolved mysteries of NieR: Automata is the presence of “Apologetic Machines” guarding locked doors

While crafty players managed to glitch their way past them, they only found unfinished areas, and many theorized that the prostrating robots might hide the entrance to future downloadable content.

The theory might actually be right, as Producer Yosuke Saito mentioned in an interview on the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu. The interviewer mentioned that they received many questions from readers about the Apologetic Machines,  and Saito-san responded (literally):

“D-L-C!! D-L-C!! D-L-C!!”

Of course, given the over-the-top nature of the response, the possibility of a joke exists, but we’re probably going to know with the upcoming livestreamed event on April 17th.

Speaking of something that is surely a jest, Director Yoko Taro mentioned that since Emil’s quest is very popular among players, if there ever is a sequel, he’d like to prepare about 200 of them.

I kid you not, Yoko-san, I’d play them. All of them.

Incidentally, Famitsu’s readers awarded NieR: Automata with a whopping 93.3 out of 100 average score, and if you want to check out our own review, you definitely should.

NieR: Automata is currently available for PS4 and PC via Steam.
