Square Enix at TGS 2020 held the "NieR TGS 2020 Special Programming – The “We Have a Decent Amount of New Info” Special", most notably revealing the release date of the Nier Replicant remaster. The stream featured:

  • NieR Creative Director Yoko Taro,
  • Producer Yosuke Saito,
  • NieR composer Keiichi Okabe,
  • NieR Replicant ver.1.22 Director Saki Ito,
  • NieR Re[in]carnation Director Daichi Matsukawa
  • NieR:Automata Senior Game Designer Takahisa Taura (PlatinumGames).
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as the MC. He’s the seiyuu of Grimoire Weiss

The first announcement was the release date of NieR Replicant Ver 1.22 with a new trailer. The game will be launching on 2021 April 22 in Japan and April 24 worldwide, on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.

The game will have two different cover artwork, one by Akihiko Yoshida and one by Koda Kazuma. Both will be included in all regions, either as the main cover or reverse cover.

The game will have a limited edition in Japan. They mentioned it'll be different in North America and Europe and the details for these aren't finalized yet. They stressed out it'll keep the OST but for the other goods they don't know yet. Details will be announced later on the NieRGame English twitter account.

Next, we got to see video messages from some of the seiyuu: Nobuhiko Okamoto, who voiced the main character in the original game. Ryoko Shiraishi who voiced Devola/Popola. Mai Kadowaki who voiced Emil. Ai Nonaka (Yonah). They most notably mentioned how this new version has way more voiced lines than the original game. And they were happy to reprise their roles ten years later, though in Shiraishi's case she was also in Automata so it wasn't technically ten years. If you're a seiyuu fan you can watch the messages at the 12:48 timestamp of the stream.

Next up, some live gameplay of NieR Replicant Ver 1.22 was shown for the first time. You can watch it below at the 21:00 timestamp, for around 3 minutes:

As the stream ended, a few more announcements were made for goods and the stage play in Japan. They most notably showcased the new NieR Automata figures. We'll detail the figures in another article as soon as we can.

Lastly, new artwork for the remaster by Akihiko Yoshida and screenshots were published by Square Enix. You can find them in the gallery below.
