NieR Series To Be Featured At TGS 2020 With Yoko Taro

Square Enix will hold a NieR stream with "decent" new info at TGS 2020 on September 24th, and another one with "nearly no new info" the 26th.

September 10, 2020

Square Enix announced two streams will be happening for its NieR action RPG series at Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online. The first stream is officially titled the “NieR TGS 2020 Special Programming – The “We Have a Decent Amount of New Info” Special”. It’s a pre-recorded stream that will include new “decent” information on NieR Replicant ver.1.22, NieR Re[in]carnation and NieR:Automata.

The first NieR TGS stream, included in Square Enix’ stream, will be on September 24 from 2200 to 2250 JST (Click here for a time conversion table) will feature:

  • NieR Creative Director Yoko Taro,
  • Producer Yosuke Saito,
  • NieR composer Keiichi Okabe,
  • NieR Replicant ver.1.22 Director Saki Ito,
  • NieR Re[in]carnation Director Daichi Matsukawa
  • NieR:Automata Senior Game Designer Takahisa Taura (PlatinumGames).
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as the MC. He’s the seiyuu of Grimoire Weiss

The second stream will be featuring the same people except for Hiroki Yasumoto, and will be random talk “with almost no new information”. This second stream will be happening on September 26 from 2200 to 2300 JST (Click here for a time conversion table).

One thing to note about the first stream is that it’ll include English subs. Meaning I won’t have to translate anything. Unless the subs only broadly cover the stream and is missing details, which is sadly often the case at these type of events.

On Twitter, Yoko Taro explained the first stream’s title, explaining: “I asked what the title means, the stream won’t have nothing new, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking”.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22 is the upcoming “upgrade” remaster. NieR Reincarnation is the RPG gacha mobile game which recently had a Closed Beta in Japan. As we wait for TGS 2020, you can read more on the NieR series with our past coverage.

Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online will be held from September 24 to 27. We’ll be meticulously covering each stream with details that most other sites probably won’t translate so stay tuned. Moreover, soon before TGS 2020 begins, we plan to publish our own special schedule with all the games to keep an eye on, like we did in 2019. Meanwhile, the official English schedule (in JST) can be accessed here.
